TRC Excellence Awards
TRC has since 2006 been presenting Excellence Awards to Tamil Students who have obtained Distinction in the Tamil Language and additionally have also excelled in their other subjects. These awards are presented to the preceding year’s PSLE, GCE ‘O’ & ‘A’ Level students. TRC has been collaborating with the Ministry of Education and SINDA in identifying and selecting the recipients.

We hope that such recognitions will motivate them to further excel in their studies and specifically send a message that excelling in the Tamil Language enhances the student’s performance and that the Community supports the promotion of the Tamil Language. Recipients receive cash awards ranging from $300 - $500 plus a certificate.

TRC has to raise funds annually and through the monthly contributions from members and well-wishers. These contributions can be made via GIRO. We appeal to you to come forward and play your part in our community enrichment projects. Please visit our website and join us as a GIRO contributor. AND also encourage your friends and relatives to do so to.

"Get serious against sellers who pass off beef as mutton"

One of our TRC members highlighted in the Straits Times Forum dated 9 November 2012 about the scam of meat suppliers for passing beef as mutton. He emphasised that such sellers should be given deterrent punishment so that offences of such nature are not repeated by other sellers as there is serious religious and cultural sensitivity involved.

The National Environment Agency responded that it takes a serious view of such malpractices. NEA assured the writer and all in the community that it takes a firm stand against such cases and will prosecute such sellers to the full extent of the law. They have barred the offenders from selling meat with immediate effect.
