சிற்பிகள் வாசகர் வட்ட 2-ஆம் ஆண்டு நிறைவு Sirpigal Reading Club 2nd Anniversary               

சிற்பிகள் வாசகர் வட்ட 2-ஆம் ஆண்டு நிறைவு கொண்டாட்டங்கள் தேசிய நூலக வாரியத்தின் ஆதரவில் சனிக்கிழமை ஜுலை 24-ஆம் தேதியன்று தெம்பனீஸ் வட்டார நூலகத்தில் கோலாகலமாக நடைபெற்றது.  

மரீன் பரேட் குழுத்தொகுதி நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் துணை பேராசிரியர் டாக்டர் முகம்மது பைசால் இப்பிராஹிம் சிறப்பு விருந்தினராக நிகழ்ச்சியில் கலந்துகொண்டார். சிற்பிகள் வாசகர் வட்ட 2-ஆம் ஆண்டு நிறைவு கொண்டாட்டங்களின் ஒரு பகுதியாக சிற்பிகள் மன்றம் சன்லவ் இல்லத்தை ஓராண்டிற்கு தத்தெடுத்திருக்கிறது. இல்லவாசிகளுக்காக வாசிப்பு பழக்கம் தொடர்பான நடவடிக்கைகளுக்கு ஏற்பாடு செய்ய மன்ற உறுப்பினர்கள் திட்டமிட்டிருக்கின்றனர். இந்த முயற்சி சன்லவ் இல்லத்தோடு மட்டும் நின்றுவிடாமல், எதிர்காலத்தில் இன்னும் பல இல்லங்களுக்கு இந்த திட்டத்தை விரிவுபடுத்த சிற்பிகள் மன்றம் எண்ணியிருக்கிறது.

நிகழ்ச்சியில் சுமார் 30 உறுப்பினர்கள் கலந்துகொண்டு ஆடல், பாடல், இசை, நாடகம் என பல்வேறு அங்கங்களை படைத்தனர். வாசிப்போம்! சிங்கப்பூர் 2010 இயக்கத்திற்காக தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட மறைந்த உள்ளூர் எழுத்தாளர் எஸ். உதுமான கனி எழுதிய கைதி எனும் சிறுகதையின் சில பகுதிகள் ஆடல்களோடு கூடிய நாடகமாக மேடையேறியது. வாசிப்போம்! சிங்கப்பூர் 2010 இயக்கத்திற்காக தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட பாத்தேறல் இளமாறனின் வணிகர்க்கோர் வேண்டுகோள் கவிதையை அவர் மகளும் சிற்பிகள் மன்ற துணை தலைவியுமான தமிழ்க்கோதை இளமாறன் வாசித்தார். நிகழ்ச்சியில் கலந்துகொண்ட சமூக தலைவர்கள், பல்வேறு முதியோர் இல்லங்களிலிருந்து வருகை தந்த சுமார் 100 இல்லவாசிகள், பொது மக்கள் முன்னிலையில் சிறப்பு கேக் வெட்டப்பட்டது.

சிற்பிகள் வாசகர் வட்ட 2-ஆம் ஆண்டு நிறைவு கொண்டாட்டங்கள் ஒலி 96.8 செய்தியிலும், வசந்தம் செய்தியிலும், தமிழ் முரசிலும் வெளிவந்தது. அதோடு ஜன்னல் தொலைக்காட்சி நிகழ்ச்சியிலும், தேசிய தொண்டூழிய மற்றும் மனிதாபிமான நிலையத்தின் SALT சஞ்சிகையிலும் இந்த நிகழ்ச்சி இடம்பெறும்.

The Sirpigal Reading Club 2nd anniversary was celebrated on Saturday, 24 July, 2pm at the Tampines Regional Library auditorium with the support of the National Library Board. The Guest of Honour was Associate Professor Dr Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, MP for Marine Parade GRC. As part of the celebrations, Sirpigal has adopted Sunlove Home for a year. It aims to organise reading related activities for the residents. There are also plans to expand this to other homes.

About 30 members entertained the audience with songs, music, dance and drama.
The highlight of the event was the dramatisation of 'Kaithi', a short story written by local author, the late Mr S. Uthuman Ghani that has been selected for Read Singapore 2010. ‘Vanigarkor Vendukol’ is the poem selected for Read Singapore 2010. Local poet Paatheral Illamaran has penned it. His daughter, Ms Thamizhkkothai Illamaran, who is also the vice-president of Sirpigal, recited the poem.

About 100 residents from various aged homes attended the event. A special cake was cut in the presence of community leaders, home residents and the public. Oli 96.8 news, Vasantham news and Tamil Murasu covered the celebration. It will also be featured in the Jannal TV programme and National Volunteer & philanthropy Centre’s SALT magazine in the near future.
