இளையர்களைத் தேடிச் செல்லும் காற்பந்தாட்டப் போட்டி

இளையர்கள் தங்கள் நேரத்தைப் பயனுள்ள வழியில் செலவிட வழிவகுக்கவும், திறன்மிக்க இளையர்களை அடையாளம் கண்டு கொள்ளும் நோக்கத்திலும் தமிழர் பேரவையும், பீஷான் இந்தியர் நற்பணி செயற்குழுவும் இணைந்து இம்மாதம் 24ம் தேதி ஃபுட்சால் காற்பந்துப் போட்டிக்கு ஏற்பாடு செய்திருந்தன.

அப்போட்டி ஜூரோங் வெஸ்ட் ஸ்திரீட் 25ல் இருக்கும் ஃபிக்கோ (Fico) விளையாட்டு மையத்தில் நடைபெற்றது. பொங்கல் திருநாள் கொண்டாட்டத்தின் ஓர் அங்கமாக நடை பெற்ற இப்போட்டியில் 300 இளையர்களைக் கொண்ட 32 குழுக்கள் பங்குபெற்றன.

பிஷான்-தோ பாயோ குழுத்தொகுதி நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் திரு ஹரிகுமார் சிறப்பு விருந்தினராகக் கலந்து கொண்டார். வெற்றிப்பெற்ற தலைசிறந்த 4 குழுக்களுக்கு முறையே $1,000, $750, $500, $250 ரொக்கப் பரிசுகள் வழங்கப் பட்டன. இந்தக் காற்பந்துப் போட்டியை ஆண்டுதோறும் நடத்த திட்டமிட்டுள்ள தமிழர் பேரவை பெண்களையும் தொடக்க நிலை மாணவர்களையும் இணைத்துக் கொள்ள தீர்மானித்துள்ளது.

The Youth Wings of Tamils Representative Council and Bishan CC IAEC organised the above on Saturday 24.1.2009. This was held at the Fico Sports Hub at Jurong West St 25. The event was held in conjunction with Ponggal Thirunaal Celebrations and the New Year Celebrations.

The objective was to provide a venue for our Youths to channel their time efforts on fruitful activities like sports, culture etc. Such events will also help to identify our young talents. The event witnessed the participation of 32 teams comprising more than 300 Indian Youths. Cash prizes of $1000, $750, $500 & $250 were awarded to the top 4 teams.

Guest-of-Hornor was Mr Hri Kumar MP for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC. Event was also graced with the presence of Community Leaders. Mr Hri Kumar stated that he was happy to see such collaborations between the Community Organisations and the Community Clubs. Also such events were also a good avenue to get our Youths to come together and spend their free time in positive activities.

TRC plans to hold these activity on an annual basis. Next year it plans to include Female Youths. TRC will also be holding more sports activities this year apart from its usual programmes on education and culture.
