தமிழர் பேரவை பொதுக்கூட்டம்   

தமிழர் பேரவையின் பொதுக்கூட்டம் கடந்த ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை செம்டம்பர் 30-ஆம் தேதி அன்று இலங்கை விளையாட்டு மன்றத்தில் நடைபெற்றது. எண்பதுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட உறுப்பினர்களும் இணை அமைப்புகளின் பிரதிநிதிகளும் இதில் கலந்துகொண்டு சிறப்பித்தனர்.

பேரவை தொடர்ந்து முன்னேற்றம் கண்டுவருவதாக கூறிய பேரவையின் தலைவர் டாக்டர் தேவேந்திரன், மேலும் தொடர்ச்ச்சியான முன்னேற்றத்தை காணும் என உறுதி கூறினார். உறுப்பியமும் மற்றும் அவர்கள் வழங்கும் தொகையும் அதிகரித்து வந்தாலும், பேரவை தனது இலக்கையடைய மேலும் உறுப்பினர்கள் சேரவேண்டும் என்றார்.

பேரவையின் முக்கிய இலக்கு நமது பிள்ளைகளின் கல்வி. உதவி தேவைப்படுவோர் அனைவரும் உதவி பெறவேண்டும். குறைந்த வருமானக் குடும்பங்களைச் சேர்ந்த மாணவர்கள் கல்வியில் சிறப்படைய போதிய உதவிச்செய்தல் போன்றவை பேரவையின் முக்கிய குறிக்கோள்களாக இருக்கும்.

சுமூகமாக நடைபெற்ற கூட்டம் சுமார் ஒரு மணி நேரத்தில் முடிவுற்றது. பேரவையின் ஆண்டு அறிக்கை மற்றும் கணக்கு அறிக்கைகள் மிக சிறப்பாக இருந்ததாகவும் கேள்விகள் கேட்பதற்கு தேவையே இல்லை எனவும் உறுப்பினர்கள் கூறினர்.

பேரவையின் சட்டதிட்டத்தில் பெரும் மாற்றங்கள் அடுத்த ஆண்டு சமர்ப்பிக்கப்படும் என உறுப்பினர்கள் அறிந்தனர். தமிழ் சமூகத்திற்கு என தனி கட்டடம் அமைப்பது பற்றியும் கருத்துரைக்கப்பட்டு, பல இணை அமைப்புகள் அதற்கு ஆதரவு தெரிவித்திருக்கின்றன. கட்டடம் பற்றிய விரிவான திட்டம் கூடிய விரைவில் வெளியிடப்படும் என எதிர்பார்க்கலாம்.

அதிர்ஷ்டக்குலுக்கில் தங்க நாணயம் உட்பட பல சிறப்பான பரிசுகளை உறுப்பினர்கள் வென்றனர்.

TRC Annual General Meeting 2012

TRC held its AGM on 30 September 2012 at Ceylon Sports Club. More than 80 members and representatives of Affiliate organizations were present on a bright Sunday morning to show their support.

President Dr R Theyvendran in his address assured members that TRC has been and will continue to make steady progress. Membership was growing and the number of contributions was also increasing. However, he called upon more members to come forward and contribute through GIRO.

He reiterated the point that TRC’s main focus will be on education and ensuring that the needy had ample opportunities to study and excel. He assured members that he will continue to lead and do his utmost to achieve the objectives of TRC.

The meeting went along very smoothly and was over in an hour. Members present complemented the Management Council for the comprehensive report and accounts presented. This was clear from the low number of questions raised.

Members were also informed that TRC’s Constitution was being revamped and major amendments will be tabled at the next General meeting.

On the issue of the Tamil Community having its own building, a number of Affiliate organizations had pledged their support and commitment. Members also requested TRC to set up a task force to look into the details and draw up an action plan so that the Community will have a better understanding of what was in the pipeline.

The meeting ended with a lucky draw where members went away with prizes like TV, DVD Player, Microwave Oven and the grand prize of a Gold Coin.
