தமிழர் பேரவையின் 47வது தேசிய தின கொண்டாட்டம்           

கந்தசாமி கல்வி அறநிதிக்கு $100,000 நிதி

தமிழர் பேரவையும் அதன் 33 இணை அமைப்புகளும், மற்றும் இருபதுக்கு மேற்பட்ட சமூக அமைப்புகளின் ஆதரவுடன் கடந்த செம்டம்பர் 2-ஆம் தேதி அன்று நமது தேசத்தின் 47-வது தேசிய தினத்தை கொண்டாடியது.

ஐநூற்றுக்கும் மேற்பட்டோர் கலந்துகொண்ட இவ்விழவிற்கு பிரதமர் அலுவலக அமைச்சரும், உள்துறை மற்றும் வர்த்தக தொழில் துறைகளுக்கான இரண்டாவது அமைச்சருமான திரு எஸ் ஈஸ்வரன் அவர்கள் சிறப்பு விருந்தினராக வருகையளித்து சிறப்பித்தார். மேலும் முப்பதுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட சமூக மற்றும் அடித்தள தலைவர்களும் நிகழ்ச்சியில் கலந்துகொண்டனர்.

தமிழ் சமூகம் ஒன்று சேர்ந்து நாட்டு நாளை கொண்டாடி, தங்கள் நாட்டுப் பற்றை வெளிபடுத்த இது நல்லதொரு வாய்ப்பாக அமைந்தது. முக்கியமாக தமிழர் பேரவையின் கந்தசாமி கல்வி அறநிதிக்கு நிதி சேர்க்க இவ்விழா வாய்ப்பு அளித்தது. இந்நிகழ்ச்சியின் வழி அறநிதிக்கு சுமார் ஒரு லட்சம் வெள்ளி சேர்க்கப்பட்டது என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது. இந்நிதி வழி பேரவை குறைந்த வருமானக் குடும்பங்களைச் சேர்ந்த மாணவர்களுக்கு ஆண்டுதோறும் உபகார நிதி வழங்கி வருகிறது.

ஏற்பாட்டு குழுவின் முயற்சியைப் பாராட்டிய அமைச்சர், விழாவின்போது பல அமைப்புகள் ஒன்றாக கூடியிருப்பதை வரவேற்றார். நிகழ்ச்சியின் முக்கிய அங்கமாக தமிழ் மொழிக்கும், தமிழர்களின் முன்னேற்றத்திற்கும் தனது பங்கையாற்றி வரும் சிங்கப்பூர் தமிழாசிரியர் சங்கத்தின் தலைவர் திரு சா சாமிக்கண்ணு அவர்களுக்கு பேரவை தனது சமுகச் சேவை விருதை வழங்கி கௌரவித்தது.

TRC 47th NATIONAL DAY CELEBRATION

The Tamil Representative Council (TRC) and its 33 Affiliate Organizations with the support of more than 20 other Community Organisations and Business Enterprises celebrated the Nation’s 47th Birthday on 2 September 2012, at The Grassroots Club.

 

More than 500 people attended the dinner. The event was graced by Guest of Honor Mr S Iswaran, Minister, Prime Minister’s Office and 2nd Minister for Home Affairs and Trade and Industry. In addition about 30 Affiliate Organisation and Community Leaders were present which portrayed our unity and importance given to TRC.

The event was organized with a dual objective to gather all Tamil based Community Organizations to demonstrate the unity of the Tamil community in their dedication and loyalty to Singapore and to raise funds for the Kandasamy Education Trust Fund. Through this National Day dinner, TRC has raised substantial funds. The amount raised, will be channeled towards helping and supporting students from low-income families and also to motivate those who have excelled in their studies. TRC plans to roll out specialized home-tuition projects and conduct workshops for both students and parents on how each of them can plan for the future.

Minister S Iswaran congratulated the organizing committee for inviting him and organizing this event at short notice. He further elaborated on the National Day Rally speech made by the Prime Minister and called for the Tamil Community to come together and support the various initiatives that had been put forth. He also encouraged both local and expatriate Indians to better integrate and continue to uplift the community together.

 

The Organising Chairperson, Mr V Pandiyan also appreciated the continued support and sponsorship by the various Community Organisations and individuals like Mr Abdul Jaleel, Dr T Chandroo and Dr R Theyvendran. He also called for the community to come together and give full support for the setting up of the “Singapore Tamils Community Building”.

 

TRC Community Service Award

Mr. S Samikkannu, President of Singapore Tamil Teachers Union was awarded with the Community Service Award for his major contributions to our community and the promotion of Tamil Studies and Language. Mr Samikkannu sits in many other community organizations and has continued to be a key ally of TRC.

It’s no doubt that this noble heart will continue to outshine as an exemplary role model for our younger generation.

The celebrations for the evening continued with colorful and youthful performances by talented upcoming young artistes and not forgetting the adrenal rushing table activities and lucky draw prize presentation.
