தமிழ் மொழி மாதத்தை முன்னிட்டு இரண்டாம் முறையாக சிற்பிகள் மன்றமும், தமிழர் பேரவையும் இணைந்து நூலகத்தில் குதூகலம் எனும் நிகழ்ச்சியை தேசிய நூலக வாரியம் ஆதரவில் ஏப்ரல் 20-ஆம் தேதியன்று உட்லண்ஸ் வட்டார நூலகத்தில் ஏற்பாடு செய்திருந்தன. இந்நிகழ்ச்சியில் 130 தொடக்கநிலை, உயர்நிலை மாணவர்கள் மிகுந்த ஆர்வத்துடனும் ஈடுபாட்டுடனும் பங்குப்பெற்றனர்.

அறிவுத்தேடலிலும் கல்வியிலும் மாணவர்கள் நூலகத்தை சிறந்த முறையில் பயன்படுத்த நூலகரும் நூலக அதிகாரியும் குறிப்புகளைப் பகிர்ந்துகொண்டனர். அதன் தொடர்பான கேள்விகளுக்கு பின் மாணவர்கள் பதில் எழுதினர். மேலும், சிந்தனை திறனையும் மொழி வளத்தையும் மேம்படுத்தும் வகையில் படங்களுக்கு பின்னால் ஒளிந்திருக்கும் பழமொழிகளை கண்டுபிடிப்பது, அண்மைய பாடல்களில் உள்ள சொற்களுக்கு பொருள் கூறுவது, சொற்றொடர்களை உச்சரிப்பு பிழறாமல் வேகமாக சொல்வது போன்ற பல்வேறு போட்டிகள் மாணவகளுக்காக நடத்தப்பட்டன.

ஒவ்வோரு குழுவிலும் வெவ்வேறு பள்ளி மாணவர்கள் இணைந்து போட்டியிட்டனர். புதிய நண்பர்களோடு ஒன்றாக செயல்பட்டு வெற்றிப்பெற்ற 5 குழுக்களுக்கு ஆளுக்கு $20, $15, $10, $5 புத்தகப் பற்றுச்சீட்டுகள் பரிசாக வழங்கப்பட்டன. பங்குப்பெற்ற அனைத்து ஆசிரியர்களுக்கும் மாணவர்களுக்கும் சிற்றுண்டியும் அன்பளிப்பு பைகளும் வழங்கப்பட்டன.

இந்நிகழ்ச்சிக்கு பேராதரவு அளித்த மாணவர்களும் ஆசிரியர்களும் தமிழ் மொழியையும் நூலக சேவைகளை பற்றியும் உண்மையிலேயே குதூகலமான முறையில் தெரிந்துகொண்டனர்.

 

 

FUN @ LIBRARY

FUN@Library is an interactive event for students which Sirpigal, Tamils Representative Council (TRC) organised with the support of the National Library. This was our 2nd joint programme in running and it turned out to be a great success as we had overwhelming response from schools. 130 students participated this year as compared to 70 last year.

This event held in line with the Tamil Language Festival was conducted in such a way that there was active interactive participation from students. Pictures, symbols and numbers were used creatively to tease the students’ brains for interpretation of Tamil proverbs and idioms. Students enjoyed every moment and not only that, they came up with many “on the spot new proverbs and idioms”. Another interesting segment the students enjoyed was, providing a meaning to some of the words used In the Tamil songs. Students were divided into separate groups so there were students from different schools in each team. Book vouchers worth $20, $15 and $10 were given as prizes to each student from the winning top 3 teams. Book vouchers were sponsored by TRC, and Sirpigal sponsored a goodie bag each to all the students. We can definitely look forward to greater support next year as teachers were very supportive and found the event very enjoyable. Teachers also commented that it was indeed a fun and interactive way of gathering knowledge.
